READ BEFORE ORDERING

THIS BUILD.
THE IMPORTANT DETAILS.

  • This basket is for a stationary display. It does not preserve motor-battery integration. Plan an onboard compatible power source separately before operating the train.
  • Winter Holiday Train: this proposal powers a stationary display over USB. It does not retain the original motor-battery adapter. Do not connect an external USB tether while running the train; moving operation needs a separate onboard power plan.
  • 4 Dock housings need new Tether attachment locations. Check the stud footprint, housing clearance and access to both Belt sockets at each original board location before buying.
  • At least one 12-port board is split into a Dock 9 and Dock 3. Check room for both, leave a Belt connection between them, and keep the original light groups together where possible.
  • The source powers the kit through a motorised train’s Power Functions or Powered Up system. A USB redesign changes mobility and needs a separate compatible supply.
  • Keep all cables away from wheels, connecting rods and couplings, and review the two multi-colour strings and flashing lamps.
  • Original guide powers the kit from a motorised train through a Power Functions or Powered Up cable. A USB-powered 2.0 redesign changes this arrangement; do not plug 2.0 parts directly into 1.0 or train power connectors.
  • Rotating or moving sections need separate cable routing and, where appropriate, an onboard power source. A longer cable does not make a continuously rotating connection safe; test full travel before connecting power.
  • Capacity allowance: 14 Astro light/string connectors across 24 Dock Astro ports. This checks total capacity only. Assign lights by their actual locations and confirm each Dock’s local capacity and lead reach before buying.
  • This is an independently derived component plan, not a physically tested installation or a replacement step-by-step instruction manual. Use the original guide together with the concordance and changed mounting/power plan.

Connection counts are a planning check. They do not verify local grouping, cable reach, power draw or physical fit. Astro ports and Belt sockets are different connections.

How the cable allowance was calculated

4 network components require at least 3 Belt links in this planning allowance. Original cable lengths are retained where mapped; included FX Belts are credited once. Extra links use 50 cm Belts as an unmeasured routing allowance. Check the actual branch and effect grouping against every source step.

THE CONCORDANCE

EVERY CHANGE.
IN PLAIN SIGHT.

Quantities below are individual components. The shopping list combines shared packs, then rounds up once.

Original 1.0 itemProposed 2.0 replacementWhat to check
5 x White 15cm Bit Light5 × Astro Light Regular - White 15cm ↗Keep one light at each original fixture. Route the flat lead without pinching it and confirm that its 15 cm lead reaches the chosen Dock.
7 x Flashing White 15cm Bit Light7 × Astro Light Regular - Flashing White 15cm ↗Keep one light at each original fixture. Route the flat lead without pinching it and confirm that its 15 cm lead reaches the chosen Dock.
2 x Multi Colour Light String2 × Astro Light String 10 LEDs (White) - Multi Colour 30cm ↗One complete string per original string, not one pack per LED. Ten colour-changing LEDs at 5 cm spacing, 30 cm lead; count one Astro connection per string. Check coverage and reroute to match the new spacing.
2 x 6-Port Expansion Boards2 × Dock 6 ↗Astro ports are separate from the two Belt sockets. Mount the larger 2.0 housing with its included Tether; check the 1.0 board location has clearance.
1 x 12-Port Expansion Boards1 × Dock 9 ↗
1 × Dock 3 ↗
Astro ports are separate from the two Belt sockets. A 12-port board becomes Dock 9 + Dock 3, requiring two attachment locations and a linking Belt.
1 x 15cm Connecting Cable1 × Belt 15cm ↗Preserves the original nominal cable length. Belt plugs and routes differ; measure reach including bends before ordering.
1 x 30cm Connecting Cable1 × Belt 30cm ↗Preserves the original nominal cable length. Belt plugs and routes differ; measure reach including bends before ordering.
1 x Power Functions CableNo separate purchaseProposed display-only USB power conversion. The legacy motor battery connection is not retained. A moving train needs a separately planned onboard 2.0 power source; do not tether a moving model.
1 x Powered Up CableNo separate purchaseProposed display-only USB power conversion. The legacy motor battery connection is not retained. A moving train needs a separately planned onboard 2.0 power source; do not tether a moving model.
Power Functions / Powered Up cable optionNo separate purchaseLegacy motor-battery power is replaced by a USB Flux Belt for a stationary display. No motor adapter or onboard supply is included.
Additional 2.0 links1 × Belt 50cm ↗4 power-network components need at least 3 links. 2 source-length Belts plus 0 Belts included with FX controllers leave 1 additional links. 50 cm is a conservative routing allowance, not a measured installation length.
2.0 USB power entry1 × Flux Belt 60cm ↗One Flux Belt per retained power group (old AA/USB alternatives combined). USB adapter or power bank excluded. Multiple sources must feed electrically separate networks; never join powered outputs.

BRING YOUR OWN BRICKS

THE EXTRA
LEGO PIECES.

The lighting cart excludes the LEGO set and all extra LEGO pieces. These are the pieces listed in the original guide; adapting 2.0 mounting may require additional pieces.

The original guide does not provide a separate extra LEGO inventory. Inspect every installation step before ordering. This does not establish that no extra pieces are needed.

Match shape, size and colour against the original guide. Element IDs are omitted where the source does not identify them. Docks and Meteors include the Tethers stated on their product listings.
